Celebrating our Choir Champion!
At FletcherTech, we believe our people are our most valuable asset. We are dedicated to fostering effective teams and supporting individual growth. Embracing a “bring your whole self to work” philosophy, we also celebrate our team’s personal achievements and milestones.
FletcherTech’s Zhivaar Roberts took part in the World Choir Games in Auckland as an alto singer for her choir, ‘Ascension’. The 40-member community choir is a part of the broader Auckland Symphony Chorus, which boasts over 80 members. Zhivaar’s sister, Eleva Roberts from fellow Fletcher Building business, Brian Perry Civil, is also a member of Ascension Choir and competed in the games alongside her sister.
Often dubbed ‘the Olympics for singers’, the World Choir Games is the largest international competition for choirs.
Ascension is a community brought together by our shared passion for music and song
In 2024, Auckland hosted over 250 choirs as part of the World Choir Games, which worked out to just over 11,000 participants for the two-week-long event.
The World Choir Games featured diverse groups across various musical genres and levels, from community to professional. Workshops led by renowned choral musicians enriched the experience for participants and meeting individuals from around the world allowed everyone to share in each other’s musical journey.
For us, the highlight was not just the competition but the unity found in music— a universal language that transcends borders, languages, and cultures.
Ascension received a gold-level diploma, which is an impressive achievement, especially given the choir was a newcomer to the competition scene!
